Crystal Two Hearts is an Indigenous Sewing Artist based in Bismarck, North Dakota. She draws upon her heritage as a member of the Spirit Lake Nation (Dakota), and the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe (Lakota), as inspiration for her work. She specializes in Star Quilts, Handbags, Star quilt bags, ribbon skirts & shirts, wallets, tapestries, baby bags and blankets, and much more. Crystal makes Star Quilts for her family and friends and her Native American community. These eight pointed stars, the morning star, represent the link between the living and those who have passed. It is an honor for Crystal to make star quilts for her community to celebrate important life events such as childbirth, graduation, weddings, honoring one who has served in the military or the passing of a loved one. Crystal’s company is called, Eternal Bloom Blankets.
“The art and beauty of my culture, the customs and traditions, the regalia of the dancers at our powwows. All the creations which we hold sacred, from the earth to the sky, and the stars especially. Mother Earth’s sunrises, sunsets, the changing colors of the land and being along the water. Sounds crazy, but sometimes I will find a space to sit by the river and think about the next project.” Crystal has won awards for her wearable art from the Grand Forks, ND Quilts on the Red River Quilt Show. She was featured in the quilting magazine, Make Modern. Crystal loves to make raffle quilts to support worthy charities.
