This award is given to members for consistent achievement and continuing involvement for the betterment of the Guild over a period of time. (For achievement beyond the Shining Star level, but less than the level for a Life Member Award.)

Carolyn Garner was awarded the Bright Star award for consistent achievement and continuing involvement for the betterment of the Guild over a period of time. Carolyn joined the Guild in 1981. She has volunteered for many projects over the years. She was Board Secretary, volunteered at the IQM for National Quilting Days and Art Markets. She had been the Quilt Mom for the Raffle Quilt and Chaired two Quilt Shows. In recent years, Carolyn has been in charge of the Mini Raffle. Under her guidance, the income from the Mini Raffle has increased greatly. Carolyn was thanked for all her hard work and was congratulated on receiving the Bright Star award.

Kathy Junker was also nominated for the Bright Star Award. Kathy’s willingness to help in varied ways for many different projects and roles makes her a valuable and vital member of LQG. She joined the Guild in 2013 and has many projects that she volunteered for over the years. She helped co-chair Santa Socks and contributed beautiful socks. In 2016, she worked at the Admissions desk at the quilt show and in 2018, she was again at the Admissions desk and helped with the Vendor Mall. Kathy helped lead the Newbies group in 2018 and has been active in the County Fair judging. She has donated handmade stuffed animals to the Women’s Care Center and the Child Advocacy Center. Kathy served on the Guild Board as Treasurer-elect in 2022 and as Treasurer in 2023. She served as an instructor during our 50th anniversary celebrations with her mini-class on “Creative Design with 9-Patches”. In 2024, Kathy presented a trunk show of her many quilts and offered tips for different techniques to make quilting easier.
Kathy’s willingness to help has demonstrated continuing involvement and consistent achievement for the betterment of the Guild. Kathy was thanked and congratulated.

Joyce Nass was also awarded the Bright Star Award for consistent achievement and continuing involvement for the betterment of the Guild over a period of time. Joyce joined the Guild in 2016. She has been involved in numerous projects in those years. Joyce worked with the Mini Raffle in 2018. She was secretary for the Board in 2000 and agreed to stay on in 2001 after the Covid year. She used her valuable quilting skills for the guild, as she has quilted two of our raffle quilts, including the 2023 quilt for our 50th anniversary. She helped update the library inventory list. In 2021, Joyce became our Website manager and Plain Print editor. She is still doing this for the Guild, which is a time intensive undertaking. She is also one of our current Membership committee chairs. Joyce was thanked for all her work and congratulated.
