November President's Message

Pat Kant
To my friends at the Lincoln Quilters Guild, I want to thank you for the opportunity to be President of a wonderful organization of members who enjoy the creativity of quilting, who support those in need, who honor veterans, who educate and learn about quilting, and much more.

This was a special year to serve. We celebrated the 45th Anniversary of the Lincoln Quilters Guild with a wonderful display of quilts by Millie Fauquet. We honored the guild’s history and celebrated our joy for quilting, our exceptional creativity, worthy projects and the significant impact on relationships with our friends, family and the community. One of our highlights includes our wonderful relationship with the International Quilt Study Center and Museum celebrating their 10 year anniversary. In addition, we recognized 15 “Distinguished Members” and created a commemorative pin. In August, the guild hosted the biennial quilt show, “Playing the Angles”, where we displayed hundreds of beautiful quilts and special displays; it was awesome. Thank you to the Quilt Show Committee and to everyone for making it a big success.

One of my goals this year was to reach out to our small groups and outreach groups. I highly recommend the small groups to members to develop relationships and share your love of quilting. Thank you to everyone’s hospitality.

Kath Conroy, Chair of the Nominations Committee, announced the 2018-2019 Slate of Officers that will be installed at the November meeting: President Elect – Lisa Burham (pending approval), Secretary – Jerry Lee Jensen, Treasurer Elect – Pam Rowland, VP Elect Programs – Janiece Goin and Linda Gale, President - Christina Chapman,  Treasurer – Caroline Forstrom, VP Programs – Julie Albrecht and Marilynn Schnepf and  Advisor – Pat Kant. Thank you to Kath for your exceptional effort developing this slate; and thanks to each of you who volunteered to serve.

Ann Hauder has asked members to donate items for the Friends table. Donation items can be brought to the museum or to the November LQG meeting. The Art Market at the International Quilt Study Center & Museum is scheduled for Friday, November 16 and Saturday, November 17, 2018. Hope you can make the event!

Finally, we are accepting membership renewal for the next guild year. Membership dues for the 2018-2019 membership year are $50, with an “Early Bird” rate of $40 if submitted or postmarked by December 31, 2018. You can find the membership application form on the guild website.

Hope to see you at the November meeting!!
