CLASSES
We have some great classes planned for 2012-2013!
This class is for quilters with no previous quilting experience or for those who are struggling with poor results. You will learn how to properly baste your quilts and find out about choices in marking and non- marking techniques. You will learn how to get the most out of your walking foot and get a good start on exploration with free motion techniques. We’ll also cover lots of information on threads and batting.

This class is for machine quilters with some experience who are tired of stippling and stitch in the ditch. If you want to learn how to make intricate feathers, flower, leaves, paisleys, and other designs without marking, then this is the class for you. I will also cover how to size designs for particular spaces and how to mix and match design elements. Must have a machine that can drop or cover the feed dogs and have a free motion/darning foot.

(From Deb’s Blog) Bindings
One of the things I have noticed in my ventures around the country, quilt bindings are the nemesis of many of us. However, bindings do NOT have to be an adversary. Trust me. I, like a vast majority of you quilters out there, fought the perfect binding with my heart and soul. I figured I would muddle through and, like my other quilting techniques, it would improve with age. Wrong!
Think about this: You’ve spent weeks getting it to the point of binding. You’ve cut, sewn, (ripped some?) quilted, quilted some more and now you’re ready to bind and sleeve your quilt. Why not give it the same attention you did during the entire creative process? I was extremely fortunate when Sharon Schamber finally taught me how to do a really fabulous binding and my finished quilts improved dramatically. I know…I know…I’m stubborn. I should have sought out a better way to do them much earlier on but as they say, it’s never too late to learn something.
This means so much to me that I’d like to offer a free binding class to any guild I go to. I’m amazed at how many very experienced quilters out there simply never embraced (or were taught) a good binding technique. Are we all just so tired of looking at our quilts during the making process that we run out of steam by the time we get to the bindings? Well…that doesn’t have to be the case. Sign up for the free binding class on Monday, April 8th, 2013.

I loved the rainbow effect and wanted to highlight that in the quilt. Approximately 52" x 52"

What’s In Your Design Box?
Here are some of the questions you may have in your box.
I have an idea for a quilt but I can’t find a pattern. Where do I start?
Where do I find inspiration for color combinations, design, pattern, embellishments......?
How do you add little extras to a quilt like piping along the border, or bias stripe binding?
Bring these questions and others to this workshop. We will show you what answers we keep in our boxes of quilting tips, tricks and techniques to jump start the quilt design process and to add individuality to our quilts.

Feathered Star Sampler
Class: Monday and Tuesday, September 9th and 10th, 2013
Two day class fee: $70

Marsha’s two-day Feathered Star Sampler workshop gives ample time to:
• explore the different types of Feathered Stars
• do a little drafting to learn their structure
• learn bias-strip piecing to make the 2-triangle Feather Squares
• and focus on the precise cutting and piecing
Each person will choose which block they want to make. Feathered Stars aren’t particularly difficult, they just have a lot of pieces and take some time. The results are well worth the effort. Most participants in Marsha’s two-day workshop can complete a block during class. There is a lot to learn and some quilters prefer to finish the piecing at home. However you choose to use your time in the workshop, Marsha is committed to teaching you skills and techniques that will help you in your work as a quilter.
