It gave me pause to realize that it’s already September. We’ve had a wonderful year of celebration for our 45th Anniversary, as well as a spectacular 2018 Quilt Show, Playing the Angles.
September’s program promises to be colorful from two talented speakers Ruth Ann Berry and Greg Barner for Back to Back Trunk Shows. I checked out both speaker’s websites, and they both share awesome creativity showing dimension and many bright colors. We are in for quite a program and class.
If you haven’t registered for classes, there are spots available.
Great news!! LQG member, Kathy Morgan announced at the August meeting that as a member of Heritage Needlework Guild in Nebraska City she was selling raffle tickets for their beautiful quilt. She challenged the LQG members to buy more tickets than the Omaha Quilt Guild had purchased, which was 100 tickets. The Lincoln Quilt Guild members purchased $141 TICKETS!!! Way to go!! Your generosity is appreciated.
I’m so proud and excited about the guild’s participation in making 79 of the 135 quilts made for the 12th Honor Flight for female veterans planned for September 24. Hats off to the Quilts of Valor Committee chaired by Sara Kenny.
Kath Conroy will present the slate of officers for consideration for the next guild year. We will accept nominations from the floor and vote on the slate of officers at the October meeting. Treasurer Vicky Skuodas will present the 2018-19 Budget. Printed copies will be provided and will be voted on at the October meeting. Words of appreciation to the Finance Committee for reviewing the goals of the guild and developing this proposal for consideration.
We’re looking forward to Threads Across Nebraska October 12 and 13th in Kearney, Nebraska. Any LQG member is welcome to show one quilt. Bring your quilt to the October 8 guild meeting. We are still seeking one volunteer to take the quilts to the event. We have a volunteer to bring them back. Give me a call (402-540-7855) if you are interested.
We have started a Suggestion jar on the Information table. Please provide your comments such as speakers, classes, outreach programs, budget, or other ideas. We received a couple at the last meeting.
Looking forward to seeing you on September 10th.
Pat Kant, President
