April 2018 President's Message

Pat Kant
April is here, and since the weather has stayed on the cold side, we’ve had more time to sew, right?  This month’s program features Mickey Depre.  Mickey’s Motto: "There is more than enough fabric in the studio to be both an Art Quilter and a Traditional Quilter".  Read about Mickey here. I’m anxious to see her trunk show.

Mickey Depre will also be teaching a workshop on April 10th called Old School Quilt.  Get the details here.

Our May workshop will be Stash Buster Quilts with Mix & Match Blocks with Barbara Caron.  Get the details here or visit the Programs & Workshops page on the LQG website for more information on the rest of our workshops for the year.

National Quilting Day was a wonderful way to celebrate our love for quilting.  Thank you to the many, many volunteers and the committee, it was a huge success!!

I’m sending some announcements and reminders for the upcoming activities.  See you April 9, 2018!!

45th Anniversary Celebration/Silent Auction will be at the May 14, 2018, Guild meeting.  We are seeking donations of select/quality items for the silent auction that appeal to LQG members.  Drop off your items at the April 9 guild meeting.

Quilts of Valor – At the March meeting, Sara Kenny asked the Lincoln Quilt Guild to make 135 quilts for the all-female Veterans Honor Flight.  If you are only making the top, it needs to be finished by June.  If making a finished quilt it needs to be turned in by August.  Each quilt will be presented in a pillowcase.  One hundred thirty-five pillowcases will also need to be made.  Generally, a QOV is a lap-size quilt: Minimum size: 55” x 65“, Maximum size: 72” x 90”.
